Alright, I found this video about a year ago and think it needs to be seen by everybody... What better way than on a food blog... right??
I think we can all agree on how fucking epic that was...
Needless to say, this video was the inspiration for my weekend post. I even planned ahead... days ahead... that is saying something for my normally lazy self. Went to the store on Friday evening with intentions of making those little, magical, pork purses on Saturday evening. Buuuutttt... after driving two hours into Washington for some skydiving training and then driving back home I opted for chilling at home for a while then making a tasty salmon dinner.
Finally, its Sunday! After napping for way too long, trying to finish this awesome dream I was having, I got home and started cooking. Soon, my little, studio apartment was filled with yummy smells and the sounds of Ratatat, Beastie Boys, E-40, Buena Vista Social Club and Ingrid Michaelson... I think my Ipod has a sense of humor when I let it run on random... random is fucking right!
Seeing that I have never made pork buns before I turned to the interweb for advice and I found this!!!!!
AGhhghghghghgh!! I was overwhelmed by the absolute adorableness of this woman and that recipe looked damn tasty... Word of warning... this shit takes a long time to make but it is worth the effort for sure... here is how the whole thing went down...
All the ingredients for the bun dough minus the sugar... I just added all the dry stuff together anyway
all the filling stuff...
The setup for the dough fermentation... and my cat checking it out
the dough is resting.... shhhhhhhut the eff up!
thats a tasty meatball!
The tricky part... I found it easiest to let the dough sit on the table and use both hands to gather and pinch the edges up
Cooking with dog... right? Charlie was hoping I would drop something... no such luck
ready for the steammmmmm!!
welllllll, I was bored... it was 1:00 AM... notice my sweet apron! Tattoos and cooking, together again!!! WIN!
So Yum Yum is fucking right!!!
Well, that was a tasty little project! Now go buy all the stuff and cook this shit!!
